Totally getting in touch with my inner Scot and rocking a bit of Tartan today. Today I’m going for a slightly more ladylike look, but I’ll definitely be wearing more tarten this fall and winter. I love how it can have a bit of an edge, a bit of punk, and a hint of catholic schoolgirl, if you want to.
The shirt is actually menswear; men’s shirts are longer (I always think women’s blouses are way too short!), and a lot of them come in a “slim fit” so they’re still quite tailored on a woman’s body. You could wear it buttoned all the way up if you want to, but it was looking a bit too stiff on me when I tried it, so I’m wearing it open. The skirt is my mom’s; though it’s been residing in my closet for quite some time now. I’m very lucky to have such a stylish mom.
I grabbed the earrings at Primark, they have fabulous jewellery there (especially if you like it a bit over the top, like me!).

I’m such a happy camper today! I’m ashamed to admit that I have had this dress for years and I have never worn it… No idea why, because the second I put it on I felt amazing. I’ve placed it in my favorite outfits top 5 (I don’t have an actual list like that… just an imaginary one in my mind, with outfits that are smokin’ in case I ever have to find an outfit quickly and I don’t know what to wear).
It doesn’t happen often that a dress is both comfortable (it’s made from a stretchy fabric) but also structured at the same time. It sucks me in in all the right places, but at the same time it’s just as comfortable as sweatpants (not that I wear a lot of sweatpants, but you know what I mean right?).
I was actually a bit nervous at first to post this outfit, because you can see the outline of my tummy a bit… But then I thought I just really needed to be a big girl (pun not intended) and suck it up (again, not intended :p), get over myself and just post them. So there you have it!
I’m wearing it with black tights and navy shoes. Don’t be afraid to wear different (darker) colours with black; black and navy is such a heavenly combination, and they look so great together.
You haven’t seen me wearing a lot of accessories in previous posts… I’m not sure why, but I tend to wear more accessories in the fall and winter than in the summer. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I lean more towards statement jewellery, and that it makes me feel overdressed in the summer. I don’t know, but either way; I think statement necklaces are awesome, and can be worn at any moment of the day for any occasion (not just for eveningwear).
